SAYPA will bridge cultural gaps and preserve African culture by facilitating traditional African dance, drum, art, and musical experiences. The overall goal is to provide people in Massachusetts diverse community the opportunity for expression, growth, and cultural appreciation in a supportive and nurturing environment.
The 2019 SAYPA Boston Festival will continue to promote and celebrate the cultural vitality of the African diaspora through dance, art, and fashion. SAYPA is committed to ensuring broad access to the event.
Goals are:
1–To promote the value and impact of African traditional art forms through engagement.
2–To highlight and expand the appreciation of the cultural connections between Africa and the Diaspora.
3–To raise cultural awareness throughout the diverse Bostonian community.
4–To develop an understanding of African dance, drum, and music as the expression of life stories articulated through folkloric traditions.
